China's retail sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) have seen significant growth so far this month compared to the same period last year.
From May 1-11, retail sales of passenger NEVs in China totaled 294,000 units, up 32 percent from the same period last year and up 29 percent from the same period last month, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
So far this year, cumulative retail sales of passenger NEVs in China totaled 3.618 million units, up 35 percent from the same period last year.
Wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs from May 1-11 were 257,000 units, up 30 percent from the same period last year and up 1 percent from the same period last month, according to the CPCA.
So far this year, cumulative wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs totaled 4.238 million units, up 41 percent from the same period last year.
From May 1-11, China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles were 574,000 units, up 12 percent compared with the same period last year and up 34 percent from the same period last month.
So far this year, cumulative retail sales of all passenger vehicles in China totaled 7.446 million units, up 8 percent year-on-year.
This means that China's NEV penetration at retail was 51.3 percent from May 1-11 and 48.6 percent year-to-date.
In the first week of May -- May 1-5 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 41,659, down 11 percent year-on-year but up 19 percent from the same period last month.
In the second week of May -- May 6-11 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 60,896, up 30 percent year-on-year and up 44 percent from the same period last month.
During May 1-11, China's wholesale sales of all passenger cars were 464,000 units, up 25 percent compared with the same period last year, but down 2 percent from the same period last month.
During May 1-5, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 34,604, up 3 percent from a year earlier, but down 2 percent from a month earlier.
During May 6-11, China's average daily wholesale passenger car sales were 48,492, up 44 percent year-on-year, but down 2 percent in the same period last month.
So far this year, China's passenger car wholesale sales were 8.932 million units, up 12 percent compared with the same period last year.
