Update: Added official images of the new Xpeng P7.
- This will be the first major facelift for the Xpeng P7 since its April 2020 launch.
- The P7 is Xpeng's first sedan and contributed 61.71 percent of Xpeng's annual deliveries in 2021.

Xpeng's (NYSE: XPEV) new coupe sedan, internally codenamed E29, is named the new P7, a facelift for the company's iconic sports sedan.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker announced the information on Weibo today, with its chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng saying it will be the first major facelift for a model from a new Chinese carmaker.
"Yes, we always have an exciting name inside us, Xiaopeng P7," He wrote on Weibo.
"This is not a concept car, all we did was bring it from the future to the present," he added.
Mr. He shared four images on Weibo showing details of the new P7's exterior.
CnEVPost exclusively reported last month that Xpeng would unveil the coupe sedan codenamed E29 in May.
Rafik Ferrag, Xpeng's head of creative design, shared a video on Instagram on Tuesday showing the silhouette of the new coupe sedan.
Ferrag joined Xpeng in 2018 and is known for designing the first-generation P7.
The overall exterior of the new coupe sedan is sportier, compared to the existing Xpeng model's focus on being family-oriented.
Its front and rear design is similar to Xpeng's P7+ mid to large-size sedan launched in November 2024, but with an additional spoiler for enhanced aerodynamics.
The first-generation P7 made its debut at the April 2019 Shanghai auto show and was launched in April 2020. Its deliveries began in mid-2020.
As Xpeng's first sedan, the P7's sleek and stylish exterior design has helped it perform well since its launch.
The P7 delivered 60,569 units in 2021 and 59,066 units in 2022, contributing 61.71 percent and 48.91 percent of Xpeng's annual deliveries, respectively, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In March 2023, Xpeng launched the P7i sedan as a successor to the P7, although the regular P7 continued to be sold for some time. The P7+ sedan is an all-new model, not a facelift to the P7 lineup.
After the launch of the P7+, Xpeng appears to be focusing on the production on the new model, with monthly deliveries of the old P7 series falling to less than 1,000 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The P7i now starts at RMB 249,900 ($34,650) in China, and the P7+ at RMB 186,800.
