Geely Galaxy made the debut of its new hybrid SUV (sport utility vehicle), the M9, as the Geely Auto sub-brand reached the one million unit sales milestone.

The M9 made its world debut on May 22 in Milan, Italy, and Geely Galaxy positioned the six-seat flagship SUV as a global model.

The car is based on Geely's Geely Electric Architecture (GEA) architecture and utilizes the next-generation Leishen EM super electric hybrid system.

The hybrid SUV has a combined range of more than 1,500 kilometers and consumes 4.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers on low charge.

It has a powerful powertrain that can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.5 seconds.

The model will come with the G-Pilot H5 assisted driving system, a mid-range option to Geely's G-Pilot solution.

Geely unveiled G-Pilot on March 3, comprising five smart driving solutions -- G-Pilot H1, G-Pilot H3, G-Pilot H5, G-Pilot H7, and G-Pilot H9 -- similar to 's God's Eye smart driving system.

The G-Pilot H5's hardware system includes 11 cameras, 3 millimeter-wave radars, and 1 LiDAR for full-scene door-to-door NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) without the need for HD maps.

The Geely Galaxy M9 is another new energy vehicle (NEV) model named after the number nine, which is often used in the name of a car company's top model.

It is expected to compete with other hybrid models including the Aito M9, Denza N9, and 's Li L9.

The Geely Galaxy is currently offering the Xingyuan, L6, L7, E8, Starship 7, Starshine 8, and LEVC L380.

Geely Galaxy was originally a new product lineup that was officially launched on February 23, 2023. On March 3 this year, Geely announced that Geely Galaxy was upgraded to a new brand.

The brand has surpassed one million cumulative sales, making it the fastest NEV brand in China to reach that milestone, it said in the event yesterday that was streamed live online.

Geely Galaxy has seen significant sales growth over the past year, allowing Geely to rapidly increase its share of the Chinese NEV market.

Geely was ranked No. 2 in China's NEV market in January-April with 440,592 units of retail NEV sales and a 13.3 percent share, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

In the January-April period, BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) ranked No. 1 in China's NEV market with retail sales of 964,940 units and a 29.0 percent share.

Analyst expect monthly sales of the Starshine 8 to reach 10,000 units as the price is competitive.
