Nio (NYSE: NIO) has completed initial coverage of all districts in the city of Tianjin in northern China with its battery swap stations, marking another milestone in its Power Up Counties program.
As of today, Nio Power has 56 battery swap stations in Tianjin, covering 16 districts, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker said in a WeChat post.
Nio Power is the energy unit of Nio and is responsible for the company's charging and battery swap network. Tianjin is a city with no counties like major provinces.
These stations can serve Nio as well as Onvo customers, according to the EV maker.
To date, Nio has accumulated close to 1 million battery swap services in Tianjin, it said.
Nio unveiled its Power Up Counties program at the Nio Power Up 2024 event on August 20, 2024, with a goal of having its battery swap station network cover over 2,300 county-level administrative regions across all 27 provincial regions by December 31, 2025.
Under the program, Nio also aims to have its charging network cover all counties in China by June 30, 2025.
Apart from Tianjin, the company has already achieved coverage of battery swap stations in all county-level administrative regions in Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Guangdong.
As of today, Nio has 3,337 battery swap stations in China, of which 988 are located along highways.
It has 2,829 supercharging stations providing 13,027 superchargers and 1,741 destination charging stations providing 13,281 stalls in China.
Nio's charging map accesses more than 1.25 million third-party charging piles.
In a live video broadcast on February 8, William Li, Nio's founder, chairman and CEO, said battery swap stations construction would be a priority for Nio this year, with the Power Up Counties program to be completed in 14 provinces in the first half of the year.
